Hot on the trail of DREB2A protein stability

Abstract

News and Views: Responding to environmental stresses is crucial for plant survival. Research published in this issue of Plant Physiology has established that a transcription factor, DREB2A (DEHYDRATION RESPONSIVE ELEMENT-BINDING PROTEIN 2A), is stabilized by SUMOylation during heat stress. Using this posttranslational modification, plant cells can dynamically modify DREB2A downstream responses.
